SBW is currently constructing a new 11-storey social housing building with a community services centre for the City of Vancouver. The project consists of a new building with eleven storeys of non-combustible construction, with one level of basement. The basement will include parking, bike storage rooms and services rooms. The overall gross floor area is approximately 11, 000 m2, which comprises 1,300 m2 of community services component at the ground floor and ten storeys of 9,700 m2 of housing. The community services centre will include a large-scale commercial kitchen and 100-seat dining facility, showers and laundry facilities. The completed project will provide the community with 213 housing units with 175 studios, 19 one-bedroom and 19 two-bedroom units. The project is pursuing certification under USGBC LEED for Homes Mid-Rise, with a requirement to obtain a Gold certification level.
